On this page you can find information on the consumable components we recommend for recording with the VU-AMS 5fs. Some of these components last multiple recording sessions (eg. CF card) while others only for a single recording session in a single participant.

VU-AMS compatible CF cards

Either one of the Compact Flash cards below is delivered with your VU-AMS device. These cards have been extensively tested and have proven to be reliable.

For ECG and ICG recording we use the Kendall ARBO H98SG ECG electrodes. [Kendall H124SG for children] For SCL recording we use EDA Electrode Type 10-W 55 GS, or Biopac EL507 electrodes

When using the VU-AMS5fs device we recommend choosing normal (Alkaline) over rechargeable (NiMH) batteries, since fresh Alkaline batteries provide most reliable performance.

We understand you may prefer rechargeable (NiMH) batteries as when using them for hundreds of recordings they have less environmental and financial impact.

There are a few things to take into account when using rechargeable (NiMH) batteries:

You are advised to always keep them in pairs so they age, i.e. lose their capacity, together.
You should perform a few charge/discharge cycles when they’re new to get them to the full capacity.

Regulary test their capacity to see if they should be replaced.
